Different Exercises to do with Your Dog

Blog Different Exercises to do with Your Dog

There are many different ways or exercises to keep your dog healthy and active.  Here are just a few ways that might help.

Swimming

Swimming with your dog can satisfy a dog’s heart. When swimming, be sure that you keep your eyes on your dog at all times. They will need a rest and will not have the same strength that you do.

Having this exercise as a part of your dog’s daily routine will be complicated due to weather and the busy schedule that you already have. Putting aside an hour or two on a certain day of the week is ample time if you want your dog to get some exercise swimming.

Fetch

All dogs love fetch. Each dog has their preference on what toy they want to play fetch with. Fetch can be used with tennis balls, frisbees, dog toys, and bones. It is also great if you find it hard to stick to an exercise routine with your dog. There is no need to travel and it may only take 5 minutes. Some dogs will happily occupy your time by trying to play with you for hours on end.

Walk on the Beach

This will probably come as your favorite form of exercise for your dog. A nice walk on the beach as the sun is setting will help you de-stress from your crazy workday.

Walk your dog on a dog-friendly beach. In Palm Beach County, we have a beautiful dog friendly beach in Juno Beach starting at Marcinski Park.

Running

You may already have running squeezed into your daily schedule. Why not take your dog on that run with you? Running is a great source of cardio for dog as well. Take into consideration that you will be stopping more than you ever would running alone. It’s your dog’s exercise too and he is going to use the restroom, stop to greet other dogs and people. Be willing to stop when you dog does.

Teaching

Exercising the brain is often overlooked. Don’t forget to do it. Continuously teaching your dog commands and tricks is encouraged long after their puppy years. You can teach them more advanced tricks such as high five, roll, and play dead. This will also help keep them learning and remain active.
